TELL ME WHY

Less than one minute read time.

Hi

I have always liked this song but it seems apt for many of us who have, have had or know people with cancer.

Please have a listen...maybe you can come back with a song that means something to you at a time when things have seemed unfair or songs that inspire you when you need that feeling that you are not alone.

Maybe if there are enough songs then I can put together a MacMillan "Songs of Inspiration" CD together. Maybe a way to raise some money for the cause.

thanks

    Well the night before brain surgery when sleep was not to be had (wonder why) I had my curtains drawn around my bed, my new little pink iPod shuffle the kids had got me for xmas on and Billy Idol's Dancing With Myself full volume and my little arms and head were going all over the place.

    I intend to "enter the flames" to that one!

    Still working on what other inappropriate songs I can have my family shaking their heads too LOL

    Well I will be carried into church to Jimmy Durante's Make Someone Happy (from Sleepless in Seattle my favourite film)!

    Then it gets sloppier when I'm carried out to Don Henley's Taking You Home which I love because it not only sums up the situation perfectly but it tells hubby how much I love him. It's also a bonus that it's sung by Don Henley who is one of my Laminate 5 & was used in an early episode of ER when Dr Ross (George Clooney) finally got together with Nurse Hathaway! And Gorgeous George just happens to be another of my Laminate 5!

    Hopefully it won't be for a long time to come yet though!

    Enjoy,

    Bit old fashioned, but how about "Whistle a Happy Tune"?

    Here are the lyrics:

    Whenever I feel afraid,

    I hold my head erect,

    And whistle a happy tune,

    So no one will suspect I'm afraid!

    While shivering in my shoes,

    I strike a careless pose,

    And whistle a happy tune,

    And no one ever knows I'm afraid!

    The result of this deception

    Is very strange to tell;

    For when I fool the people I fear

    I fool myself as well!

    I whistle a happy tune,

    And every single time,

    The happiness in the tune,

    Convinces me that I'm not afraid!

    Make believe you're brave

    And the trick will take you far;

    You may be as brave

    As you make believe you are!

    You may be as brave

    As you make believe you are;

    You may be as brave

    As you make believe you are!

    While shivering in my shoes,

    I strike a careless pose,

    And whistle a happy tune,

    And no one ever knows I'm afraid!

    I whistle a happy tune,

    And every single time,

    The happiness in the tune,

    Convinces me that I'm not afraid!

    The result of this deception

    Is very strange to tell;

    For when I fool the people I fear

    I fool myself as well!

    I whistle a happy tune,

    And every single time,

    The happiness in the tune,

    Convinces me that I'm not afraid!
