I wouldn't be too worried Peter, it's bound to be a bit lumpy, both from the surgery and from the glands doing what they're supposed to do fighting infection.

It's still early days and your body's got a lot of settling down to do, but do mention it to the nurse.

    Hi Peter

Can't help with your problem as I must confess, I dont know what SNB is - but just wanted to say hi!

This is the first blog of yours that I am able to read because I am really, really, really squeemish and as soon as I saw your first photo I had to close your blog and have been put off reading the others, just in case!

I opened this blog with one eye closed and figure ready over the mouse to close it, if there was any sign of a picture.

Perhaps you could put your photos at the bottom of your blog with a warning that the photo is to follow?  That way, people like me can read your blog and avoid your photos.

It's only a suggestion, but I'm sure I'm not the only one who is put off reading your blogs because of your photos.

I wish I wasn't squeemish but I am and I can't help it - when I was given blood in hospital and my stem cell transplant, they had to cover the bags with a dustbin bag, so I couldn't see it!

I wish you a continued recovery and I hope my comments above haven't offended you or anyone else.

    Take care

Oh Jo, you are a big wuss!!  Although I must admit the first time I saw the results of a procedure like Peter has had, it really grossed me out!  Sadly I've seen so many many more since then, and I've become desensitised to them.  Personally, I'd like to see such pictures on billboards, it might make people think twice about whether melanoma is "only skin cancer" and might have more effect on the young tanorexics than Nicola Roberts trying to convince them that pale is the new tanned!

But I do agree that for those of a sensitive disposition, Pete's photos should have a little warning that photos of a graphic nature follow!  Please keep posting them though Pete, I'm really keen to see how it heals.

hi  and thanks to both of you for your comments

if i can edit the title of the blog to include "CANCER PHOTOS CAN SOMETIMES BE DISTURBING" i will do so. when i went into surgery i didnt know what was going to come out the other side. ok i was given an idea ot dimensions but nothing can actually prepare you for the outcome.

i have learnt on my facebook to give the link to my blog and not put any photos on there, but on a macmillan cancer research website i would have thought that a lot of people coming to the page are keen on the "research" aspect of the site.

so having googled lots of photos before and after my op, i know there are people with tiny incisions and some who have incisions a lot lot bigger than mine.

i believe this site is to educate thos who dont know, i certainly would have been grateful to have viewed my own blog a week before going in so i could prepare myself.

sorry if my photos have offended but its my leg and its my choice to show it as is it.

back to the dressing clinic tomorrow so watch this space for more pics... (pre warning!)

    have a good weekend

I absolutely agree that you should show your photos if you wish to do so and I'm not suggesting you don't.  I was only suggesting you gently warn people.  I wasn't offended by your photos at all and I hope that isn't the way it came over.

I try to read everyone's blogs as people have made the effort to write them, seems only fair.  I just felt I couldn't read yours because I'm (as Marsha says) a wuss!

I am a self confessed big girls blouse.

I have myself been through major reconstructive surgery and had loads of drains as well has other treatment, but I still cant watch stuff on TV showing how they do it.

It is my problem - Apparently it's a real condition but I cant remember what it's proper name is - as I have asked!

Well - I hope you continue to make a good recovery.

    Keep us posted
