hi
this is what the nurse had to say... well it was the macmillan nurse who is great at dressings... but she was able to give me a 7am appointment so i could go to work afterwards as she knows im getting grief at work
she said that the swab taken at the walk in centre last weekend showed growth of staphylococcus aureus, streptococci and anaerobes and therefore i have been given a course of augmentin, a broader spectrum antibiotic as the walk in centre put me on flucloxocillin last week.
she said that the short stretch compression (actico) was displaced and had affected the wound. on removal of the dressing there was exudate and the woundbed was sloughy with very erythema surrounding the wound.
the wound was soaked with prontosan for 10 minutes. fucibet was applied to the woundbed then a sheet of aquacell, swabs and a pad then double tubigrip.
the fucibet has been prescribed to try and stop the overgranulation.
i have an appointment at the walk in centre for dressings change tommorrow (sat) and i will take photos.
this week has been hard with my boss now telling me that the original deal of paying me full until i come back and then i work an extra day to catch it up again, has now been taken off the table as not being fair to everyone else. therefore i need to give a definate date as to when i am going back full time or i will go on SPP and it will be back dated to when i originally went off for the op. she is asking for letters from "horses mouths" ie the consultant and the nurse in PDC. i think she needs to know why the consultant said i should mobilise the leg and the pdc nurse has told me to take time off and elevate the leg. i just hope there is time for me to get the benefits claim in before the end of the month if i get a suprise pay of very little money if the ssp kicks in from 2 months ago!! i am slo searching for a single person to rent the second room in my flat as the last couple moved out wednesday and whilst it was a relief to see them go, it now a struggle to replace them and get some income to help pay the rent and bills.
sorry to sound off... like my boss told me last friday... no one is really interested!
peter x
