    Hey Peter,

I am an avid follower of the Slimming World programme and I absolutely swear by it.  It is foremost a healthy eating plan with the added bonus of losing weight. I have been going for 10 weeks now and have lost 19 and a half lbs.  It is fab and so easy to do. They advocate eating to the max but good food...all unprocessed food can be eaten freely eg all fruit and veg, lean meat, poultry, fish, eggs, potatoes, pasta and rice. Also Quorn products and Mullerlight yoghurts!. Then you have a small amount of milk and cheese and bread each day then on top of that 'syns' which are your treats which you have to count and montor closely what you have.  I think this would be good for you as all the healthy food will boost your immune system and hopefully help with the healing.  I lost 6 and a half pounds the first week but I know people at group who have lost up to 10 lbs!!! AND you dont have to exercise for it to work, I dont really as I get too tired apart from a bit of walking and occasional cycling.  Give it a try??

    Love Chrissi xx

    Dear Peter

Chrissi is right, Slimming World does work and is not a complicated diet. Same goes for Weight Watchers - both have good successes if you follow the rules of the plan.

Good luck if you decide to start one of them - i've done both and it really doesnt feel like 'a diet' as its just eating more healthy foods and less of ones not so healthy. And you can still have treats!

    Best of luck, Claire x

Hello Peter, I know, its easier said than done, but you can start by taking little steps i.e. cut out biscuits, cheese, whole milk, butter and start walking - just a little bit - I don't know what I'd do if I didn'thave my dog, HE HAS to be walked, so, even if I'm tired I walk him.  I have to say once I get going my tiredness goes and I feel better - fresh air never did anyone any harm, neither did a walk.  If you try to look at the big picture it will overwhelm you and you've already been through more than enough.  However, you alone now have the answer to your health and it really is up to you now.  Take care, little steps.  Ann x

I sought help from macmillan and they referred me to a dietician who helps and guides me with diet. I cannot walk far at all, chemo may have damaged my heart,  I'm awaiting tests to see if it has. My lung capacity is good? my lungs are now clear of cancer, they had 2 tumours in right lung from kidney cancer mets, chemo killed them! So what I cannot walk and breathe,  but I can do armchair exercises and it does help, any exercise will help. No exercise will not! Eating for comfort will not either, it's hard I'm not saying it's easy,  but it can be done. Slow but sure is the way to start. Good Luck from someone who knows how tough losing weight can be when drugs cause breathing difficulties and fatigue. Only we can help ourselves there is no magic cure x.
