It's not our decision to make, mate, but what have you got to lose?  There's a 50% chance you won't even get the drug, in which case it's just monitoring, blood tests, chest x-ray every six months, BP and urine tests.

Same thing if you are randomised to get the drug, but with the added visits for your infusion every 3 weeks for 17 weeks.  If it doesn't suit, you can drop out at any time.

I would recommend it, was on the drug arm for 8  months and had few side effects. Is it the only trial you've been offered?

what side effects did you have?

the only other trial is vitamin k? or something... the same as the core of a pineapple?

slight fatigue and chills to start with but nothing that really interfered with daily life. Main problem I had after a few months treatment was bleeding gums and my stomach was starting to get sore too, slight bleeding which gave me nausea. It was that reason they ordered a CT which discovered disease in my abdomen. Once I stopped the Avastin all symptoms quickly disappeared and a Endoscopy showed my stomach was fine, so basically no major problems at all. Even though I have reoccured, I'm glad I did the trial and at the moment I believe it may have helped for the months I was on it? Who knows!

I haven't heard of the vitamin K thing I don't think... but I was advised a couple of years ago to take bromelain, which is a supplement that is derived from pineapple core. Worth a shot I took it for about a yr until I kind of started forgetting!

Do your research and be comfortable with whatever option you choose :o)
