A WEEK OF DIY DRESSING ETC (GRAPHIC PHOTOS)

Less than one minute read time.

Hi

A few pics from the past week. Had a good weekend at mum and dads last weekend and the weekend just gone. Laying on the sofa with leg elevated and basically doing nothing. The leg actually went back to a decent shape and size! unfortunately do to mum begin a great cook, the size of my stomach got bigger.

Back to dressings clinic this wednesday... hope they will tell me its getting better. At the risk of repeating myself, i am glad i did this blog as its good to go back a month or so and then realise how much better it is now.

hope everyone had a good weekend... and good luck for whatever the week throws at us.

Peter

Looking good Peter. You know you need to keep resting and the leg elevated so I won't mention it (much . . . . ). Pleased to read you managed to see mum and dad last weekend and mum is still feeding you up, that's what mums are here for.

Its two years since my first op / one year since the second, both in the Lister Hospital opposite the Chelsea Flower Show, both whilst the show was on. My next check-up is in a couple of weeks then I will be celebrating a whole year clear.

We've enjoyed following your journey, and its good to read back how far you've come.

Love and gentle hugs, Sharry x

    Hi Peter,

That looks so much better - isn't the body amazing when you give it chance.... (I promise not to lecture!)  Mine too is improving daily - I will post some more pics so you can see.  Have you soaked it in the bath? I was told last Friday to soak mine daily and after a couple of days start applying E45 cream. Without going into detail, I had to shower after bathing for the first few days whilst I cleaned it, but now it is amazing. I also leave it to breathe during the day if I'm at home and just dress it at night or when I go out, to protect it. Keep up the good work!

hi sharry...every oppotunity i get to elevate the leg i do... even if i get shouted at on the train for putting my feet on the seats (shoes off i might add) then i will do it... i almost pulled up the trouser leg and show him the wound.. ahaha ha not sure if i would be left alone or told to get off the train.

well if your check up is opposite the flower show which i think is this week then let me know and we could meet for a drink and compare war wounds..ah ah ha ha

thanks for the support and take care

hi CD thanks for your message...

please post the pics... i like to compare healing process.

i have been given a huge tub of 50% white and yellow parafin cream which i have to use liberally all over the leg after showering but especially over the graft doner site.

i am at the PDC tomorrow so hope to get some better news.

oh and mine stinks!!!! (hate to admit that) is that the lymph fluid? if it is then do we really have that running through our bodies? its horrid...i am asking for a body upgrade when this is all over...!! ahah ahh a

    have a good week

Not experienced any whiffs from mine I must admit, so not sure what it is.  The cream you've got will serve the same purpose and I tend to use it as often as possible during the day, on both sites, though I must admit  it's easier on the doner site - other one is very tender. (Had to buy mine!)

Have you read Tabatha06's blog hmmmmmm - sounds like her surgeon has the wound really smothered in dressings even after 6 weeks.  Think I'll ask her about that.

Good luck tomorrow, let me know how you get on.  I'll upload another pic now then - see what you think.
