    hi mazz

well the pain in controlled with painkillers so is bareable and to be honest i have been able to look at the wound since the redressing of it only 2 days afetr the operation. i am hoping the blurrrrrrrr, as you call it, will happen fast.

i show the wounds as this is a research site and hopefully a place where people can see the reality and horrors of different types of cancer and in my case MM.

hope you managed to eat. at the sensible request of another reader here i have put a graphic photo warning on the whole blog and on each posting.

    have a good week ahead

hi peter, i think your still very brave to of gone through such a large clearance but  the pain does gets better once the nerve endings start to heal,my mm was cleared 9yrs ago now ,but the bugger that it is it came back last feb, all ok at present just monitoring, as for the photos i too think as long as you warn everyone as some people may faint, lol, its a truthful account of your journey no cotton wool covering just the plain reality of mm and what happens during treatment itll be good to see the after photos at the end once its all healed , speedy recovery, maz x

It is coming on well Peter, - looks clean and is healing.

Have they mentioned the possibility of "over granulation" - this can cause large shiny  pinky puffy areas, - my cavity did this and was treated with silver nitrate sticks on several occasions.  I know this method isn't used by everyone, - but was successful in my case.

Ask you Macmillan nurse about over granulation and make sure the nurses doing the dressings know about this and to monitor the cavity - there are other methods of treating over-granulation than silver nitrate, - but it should be treated to achieve the best result for your wound.

(p.s. I haven't got any photographs of mine but wish some had been taken)

hi and thanks for the comments.

i will ask the nurse today about the over granulation.

i will take as many photos as i can. actually that reminds me, i didnt post the one i have of the MM before surgery. i think i will put that on later today when i have come back from the dressings clinic and have todays pics.

i have to admit that the best nurses have been the ones in the nhs walk in clinic attached to the hopsital. they are generally all district nurses and have had years of experience of dressings.

i am not looking forwards to the dressings clinic today, i think they want to redress the skin graft doner site, i know the last dressing has pretty much stuck to the skin...lots of painkillers before i go!! ahah a h

    have a good day
