What a kick in the teeth

1 minute read time.

Just wanted to have a bit of a sound off I apologise in advance. Life has been pretty pants
since returning from a wonderful holiday in Gran Canaria. I returned home to find a letter of
redundancy on the table waiting to be opened thanks for the warning !!! Last week had the really traumatic event of taking my dad's dog to the vets to be put down, she has been my dad's constant companion and friend since my mum died four years ago. The same night we had the final diagnosis for my partners mum who has lung cancer nothing they can do between two months to a year left live.
All of this has left me emotionally drained, feeling depressed and a real lack of confidence. The final straw came today when I had to phone a part time job I had just secured to inform them that due to my partners mum I could not commit to a second job at this moment. The lady said she understood I needed to be there for my family but then really hit me with a parting shot of well I did have my doubts about you when you disclosed your medical history. To give you the full picture last week I went for a part time position with the hospice at home team. The ladies that interviewed me were really keen and said I was the ideal candidate until I said I felt I needed to mention that I had suffered from Bone cancer two years earlier. I was told very quickly that I should not tell the clients as this may upset them. What did they think I was stupid but then her parting shot today just really finished me off.

rant over

Oh Diane I am so sorry this foolish woman didn't think before she opened her mouth!  On top of everything else it was a heartless remark.

You so need to pull down the shutters and take a few days pampering yourself.  And don't think for one minute this is selfish because it isn't - it's necessary.  Treat yourself to a pampering kit and luxuriate in all the goodies for a couple of days to recharge your batteries.  And forget about that silly little woman who obviously needs to retrain!

All these people in your life are going to need you to be strong to help them through it and you will cope, even though you don't think you will be able to.  But to do that you must take time out for you too.

Sending you much love and huge squidgy hugs,

    Nin xxxxx
