Me so far

Less than one minute read time.

I've come to this blog writing a little late really , I was diagnosed August 21st with ER+/HER2+ breast cancer , my husband exactly one month later with early prostate cancer (hopefully, just awaiting MRI scan results for follow up to Gleason score of 6)

As a quick recap , I was initially diagnosed with Stage1 which became stage 2 after the lumpectomy , mis-diagnosed as HER2- due to a typing error , and these wrong notes sat in my file for 3 weeks until I queried my treatment plan .... I had a lumpectomy early September , followed by two chest cavity shaved which uncovered DCIS cells - still no clear margins so now need a mastectomy after my 12 weeks of chemo ... have now had three sessions of chemo and so far okay , hair is just starting to come out - have picked up my wig today and am sat in it as we speak ! Very much a game is snakes and ladders, more snakes than ladders for the most part but am very positive and determined to do all in my power to be still here for many years to come

    Hi there
Thank you for your blog. I realised that I needed to read about someone going through a similar experience. I was diagnosed with breast cancer on 18th August. Initially I was told it hadn't spread so had a lumpectomy and expected RT in October. However it was found to have spread to one lymph node so chemo then further surgery in April followed by RT.
I've had 2 sessions (of 6) of chemo so far, starting 31st October. My hair is virtually gone but I know it will come back so I can cope with that (I think!)
Like you I'm trying to be positive and I'm looking at this as a blip in an otherwise long and fulfilling life. I hate all the side effects but many go through it and so many much younger than me which must be harder. I'm 54 - so lucky that I've had my children and they're all adults now.
Anyway, thanks again and I look forward to an up date. All the best. KarenJ62

    Morning KarenJ62

Noticed you have only recently joined us here, welcome to our interwebby sanctuary.

Seeing as you are having chemo for BC you could check out the December Chemo Club discussion within the Breast Group and select 'Join This Group' while you are there.

It's great for sharing support and advice about side effects with others going through chemo at the same time.

    Take care, G n' J
