Week 2 commences. Frankly, lifting my finger to tap at the iPad keyboard feels like a mission today. I made the mistake of having a short swim, making supper and having the neighbours round yesterday. Really, this business of managing the fatigue is just too dull.
Read up on fatigue and the key messages are (1) it's not helped by sleep. True enough in my experience but the urge to sleep is overwhelming. A morning and an afternoon nap yesterday. (2) gentle exercise helps. Again, true. I'm so glad I went for a swim as I did feel better for it. (3) manage your reserves and choose to do the things you enjoy. That's all very well as a theory but difficult in practice. It was lovely to see my neighbours yesterday evening and to laugh with them but I'm paying for it now. Hey ho. Coming to terms with limitations imposed by the cancer and its treatment is not easy, especially as Christmas invitations come in.
So in short, fatigue is continuing. Nausea is ongoing but not overwhelming; mint tea helps as does eating something but if I use that as a coping strategy I will end up the size of a house. I'm a bit constipated and have an unpleasant taste in my mouth - chewing gum helps.
