Good to share

Less than one minute read time.

Am hoping after reading all the posts that I shall switch from generic letrozole to Femera to see if it makes a difference.  For past 9 months the joint/ muscle pains along with tingling, numbness in fingers and hot flushes have not decreased .   If Ibuprofen is taken for 2-3 days this does help but is not a long term solution.   Taking magnesium , vitamin d and have tried other products as read about but no noticable change.    It is such a help to see that other people have done the research into the differences between manufacturers, ingredients.   Can understand why NHS uses the generic obviously but have discussed with husband and we are prepared to pay for Femera for 2 or 3 months to see if there is a difference.

    Hi Regents park

Unfortunately it's all down to pricing. The generics are less than £10 per 28 tablet packet.

Jackie was fortunate enough to have Femara written on her repeat. She had some generics at first and although the Femara are slightly better for side effects don't expect miracles.

If you find the Femara are much better for you great but you then have to decide about twisting your GP's arm to get them prescribed or carry on purchasing them.

However there is an alternative Sandoz is the generic arm of Novartis who are the registered makes of Femara. Sandoz produces their own Letrozole at a fraction of the cost and the ingredients are almost identical. If your GP won't sign you over to Femara do bear this in mid and see if you can try those.

If you have a look in the breast group and type sandoz in the search bar you should find more info about them from messages posted :)

    Hope this helps a bit, G n' J

Thank you - shall certainly discuss with GP tomorrow. Even slight improvement would be good. But on the whole don't like to complain- am grateful for all the care and treatment and support that the NHS give
