The return

1 minute read time.

Well scan results followed by a biopsy confirmed recurrence stage ii Hodgkin's.

I have started my treatment GDP (gemcitrabine, dexamethasone, cisplatin). It all started a bit hectic tests to see if my body still worked normally kidneys, lungs, heart.

Insertion of a Hickman line, which they make sound so simple, local anaesthetic and then you are hidden whilst people talk about what they are doing, just making a small cut in your neck, now threading the wire down your vein, once all good they then "tunnel" the line so it appears on your chest. This tunnelling is basically brute forcing the line under the skin.

Anyhow after the Hickman was the kidney tests which involved blood tests every hour for 4 hours, at this point still trying to find out date to start chemo only to discover I had a bed booked for me that night and I start the following day.

Well chemo didn't start till gone midday, which considering I was booked in as it takes so long to administer was frustrating. However I've been told I can leave today once chemo finishes. Wifey cones to watch to in the evening and about 11pm we get to go home.

Next week is a struggle with energy, but taking it easy and fortunately no nausea. Although the usual constipation issues which came to a rather unpleasant end one evening. Near passing out...

Day 8 and mum takes me for chemo the usual it should take an hour turns into almost 3 but you just see the nurses rushed off their feet and so you just accept it.

Well I've been having a very slight cough, which gets worse to the point of being ferocious and occasionally makes me sick also. I head to hospital to get it checked, 5 hours with a chest X-ray, blood tests and they are sure it's nothing but send me home with precautionary antibiotics to take.

Well my cough is still apparent but less frequent and normally less ferocious. I await the start of cycle 2 hoping a bed is available on the 29th.

Wifey made a fantastic Christmas lunch with dad, sis and her partner all visiting. Things are going well, just feel desperate to get cycle 2 going and have another scan in January... (More waiting/hoping)

Just keep ticking those boxes
