Coping with mums cancer at 16

Hi Whitney,

So sorry to read this about your poor mum. Being told this is now incurable is such a cruel blow and very hard to take in.

There is 'Supporting Someone With Incurable Cancer' Group you could join where other family members who are losing a loved one can exchange advice and support each other but please be aware there are lots of messages there from those who are scared of the future and finding it hard to cope just like you are. Please don't let this worry you even more as everyone's case is different.

There is also this RipRap Org support website for teenagers who have a parent suffering with cancer which you may or may not have seen. They are based in Sheffield and will be of a similar age to you. There is no reason why you cannot be a member of both to see which one you find gives you the most support at this tough time.

I'll add that - if you have any questions about your mum's treatment - we have an Ask a Nurse area on the community, where you can post a question to our nurse team. All the nurses also work on the Macmillan Support Line - so if you prefer, you could give them a call on 0808 808 0000 (mon-fri, 9am-8pm).

Another, more specialist nurse line is available at Beating Bowel Cancer. I've found them to be a really helpful charity and they just deal with your Mum's condition.
