Just diagnosed Soft Tissue Sarcoma

Less than one minute read time.

Yesterday I was diagnosed with a soft tissue Sarcoma based on an MRI.  The mass is quite large 16 cm x 9 cm x 11 cm in my right leg in the front of the upper thigh.  Generally can I rely on this being likely correct?

  • Hi Bill,

I’m no expert on this but my Myofibroblastic sarcoma (in my left thigh) was diagnosed after a biopsy that followed ultrasound, MRI and CT scans. Until the biopsy the general consensus was that it was a cyst or lipoma. So, I suspect you will be sent off to have a biopsy shortly. If not, you should certainly challenge the decision not to have a biopsy. In any event, you really need to insist that you are put in the care of one of the soft tissue sarcoma units in the country. This is imperative.

    Hope this helps.

Thanks I am in the US and seeing orthopedic oncologist in a few days. Just a little concerned...

  • Good luck, I hope it goes well. Sarcomas are incredibly rare, so the odds are on your side. Just make sure you have access to a sarcoma specialist team if that is what it turns out to be.

Hi yes they say Sarcoma Cancer is rare ?  how rare is it getting it twice in the same place, the first visit from the Sarcoma soft tissue was 2015 a lump on my right thigh this was they successfully removed and was followed by 30 sessions of radiology.

All seemed well regular clinic appointments  and x rays of my chest , at one of my clinic appointments almost three years after the operation I was complaining of pain in the same area MRI, scans biopsy Sarcoma back  but on the bone this time operation novemer2018 wound still open because of leakage now got compression leggings fitted,

Tomorrow is another day I'm looking  for the tunnel  please leave the light on

    Kindest Regards
