1 minute read time.

Mum was transferred to a hospice today, it's a short stay unit, usually for a couple of weeks. If her symptoms plateau it's likely she will be moved to a nursing home, but they won't move her if her condition worsens. I don't want her to go to a nursing home, so I'm struggling with the alternative.

We still have not received any results from tests, so are still filling in the blanks ourselves. My cousin came to see us when we were there. She works there, which is comforting, and she spoke to mum's nurse to ask her if she could tell us more. Hopefully tomorrow things will be clearer.
The place is so much better than where mum was. Whilst I couldn't fault the care she received at hospital, she shared a bay with up to 5 other ladies, some who looked worse than mum. The only windows were small and never got opened, and no view of the outside world. Now, mum's room is bright and airy, with patio doors she can have open any time so there's fresh air a plenty.
Mum was very tired, and kept drifting off. She had 5 visitors at one point.  It's open visiting, which is fine in one way, but overwhelming for mum. I almost feel I should not be there so long or so often so others can take a turn. But this is MY mum, and I'm going to play that card until the end!
