Hello :)

My mum has been battling metastatic breast cancer for over 4 years.

This last year, she has had FEC chemo followed by chemo tablets (the name escapes me) and unfortunately patches have spread to the liver so they want to put her back on IV chemo with Taxotere

With FEC chemo she seemed to sail through pretty well, with only tiredness and hair loss, however from looking up this new chemo, it feels like it won't be as such an easy ride.

Does anyone mind sharing their experience on this chemo? And more importantly, what we (me and my sisters) can do to help in the best way e.g rearranging the house, foods and drinks to have or avoid, any things you found helped etc.

Really appreciate any response x

    Hi DoyClo

Sorry to read about your mum and seeing you joining us here :(

There are several areas here you could check out to get the support and advice you both deserve.

One is the regular monthly Chemo Club within the Main Breast Group, for help and advice from others having or who have already had chemo including Taxotere. Do check out the Chemo Tips part in the first message too.

There is also a group for Secondary Breast Cancer and if you are helping in a caring role the very active Carers Group.  Just click on any of the cloloured text links to view and join if you think they may be helpful for you. The join this group button is just under the groups title.

Don't hesitate in starting any new discussions in any groups you join, we're all here to help in a friendly way :)

You are free to join and get involved with any number groups - You can add any discussions to your favourites to keep to track of them. Viewable under the Favourites tab on your profile page by using the options in the Discussions Tools box to save you getting lost.

Hope this is of some help at a tough time, take care, G n' J
