Hi,
Im not so sure i have the right to be asking here, or if im asking in the right place but i just need to try and settle my worry.
I'm a 23 year old mother of 2 boys, (2.5yrs and 7 months), I found a lump in my left cheek about a year ago, it was the size of a lentil, i went to the doctor who said "Nothing to worry about, just a gland" Over the year it got bigger and is now the size of a large pea. I went back to my new doctor, who referred me for a specialist, who referred me to have an ultrasound and Biopsy. Yesterday i had the scan, they said it looked cystic but had solid components so they needed to biopsy it. He said it measured 9mm, and seemed half fluid half solid.
He tried 4 times to do a fine needle aspiration, the first 3 times he was not satisfied he had got any cells (the needle was in the lump but no fluid was draining in the syringe) So he tried one last time with a bigger needle (25 gauge) and it really hurt at that point. It felt like he had got the lump but he didnt say if he got any cells in the last attempt or not.
I have to wait a week for the results, I am scared but at the same time everyone tells me im being stupid for worrying over nothing.
He didnt tell me anything about it, he just said, "oh yes, this needs a biopsy" which is always comforting to hear! not.
If this lump has solid components is it more worrisome to a doctor or could it just be a cyst? Thank you
