Well it was up at 5am today to get to the hospital on time for my first day. Barely three and three quarter hours later treatment actually got underway when I was wheeled down to x-ray for the Hickman line to be put in, ah well better sitting waiting than having a lay in! I asked the guy taking me why I needed to be in a wheelchair " It's for the way back really" he said "You'll not be able to walk back afterwards" I was not heartened by his words but 55 minutes later I discovered that he was absolutely right. The insertion of the line had somehow made my legs rubbery and, according to my wife, my complexion ashen. It didn't last though and we made it to the pub for tea and my last alcoholic drink for a while. Tomorrow it's Chemo time!
