Recent diagnosis

Less than one minute read time.

My partner suffered headaches for 6 weeks. Was told he had bells palsy on the left side of his face and was admitted to hospital. 5 days later we was told he had lung cancer which has spread to his skull base.

Everything changed in seconds, our life will never be the same again. He cant drive, he cant work, he cant play golf. This cancer has taken over our life already.

At the moment we are waiting on the MDT meeting so we know exactly what we are dealing with.

He is in so much pain. Morphine makes him sick. He has lost so much weight in 2 weeks. What can i do for him . He is hardly eating .

GP is involved and is very good with him . He is scared and so am i, i am here to help him as much as i can . Any ideas on how i can boost his tiredness.

Hi, have they tried anti sickness drugs for him? Also there is a similar drug called oxycodone that works like morphine but seems to be better tolerated. Also steroids might help with fatigue.

I'm so sorry for you both. I received my stage 4 diagnosis in 2015.

    Take cae

Well today is the day . The MDT meeting is happening probably as i speak. The waiting is horrendous.

Think i am more frustrsted than my partner. Hopefully his macmillan nurse will ring at some point today.

He is still in pain, the left side of his head. I have been researching nerve blocks to see if it would help. Anti sickness tablets are working for now anyway. He still not eating and so very tired.

Well what can i say. The meeting went ahead and i had to chase the nurse for information.

The biopsies they took during the Ebus procedure were not good enough si unable to get a firm diagnosis. Now he has been referred to Neurology because he needs a biopsy from his head.

WOW!!!! How long can all this take its so frustrating all he wants to know is it treatable. I seriously worried that by the time they get this procedure over with, is it too late.

Consultant has now prescibed steroids to relieve the pressure in his head. He is on so much medication he could open his own pharmacy!!!

Been told it could take a few more weeks for final diagnosis. How can i keep him stress free during this wait. How can i lift his mood. He has no energy to go out.

  • I'm very sorry to hear about your partner and the emotional turmoil you are going through waiting for a dIagnosis.  I've discovered during the last year that it is difficult to hurry this process.    When I was chasing my partners specialist nurse in the early days she reminded me that NICE have set out guidelines in terms of waiting times etc.   Not very helpful when you want the best for your loved one and it's hard being the other half watching helplessly.

I hope you hear news soon.   Take care of each other.
