A new system

1 minute read time.

So hopefully by now you will have noticed that Macmillan has a new Volunteering system as i mentioned in my very first post.

www.macmillan.org.uk/volunteering

Now change can be daunting and scary so i thought i'd talk you through how to do it. You dont have to agree to any opportunities straight away but just being nosey is always a good thing.

So firstly assuming your computer is on and you aren't just reading my thoughts go to the link above.

Secondly enter your postcode. It will then work out opportunities that are literally right on your doorstep. You dont need to look through hundreds to see what is near you.

If you want you can click on advanced search. It gives you options like how far you can travel, when you want to volunteer and what type of thing you want to do if you already have something in mind.

Once you have filled this in just click search .

A map should then appear with your options that match your search criteria.

You can have a look through them, see if anything interests you and crucially, you can come over to We Give Our Time to ask what people think of the role or maybe what you enjoyed doing in it.

Please check this section often. Volunteering roles are changing all the time so something will come up and i will be very surprised if you get nothing. It is a new system so there may be teething problems at first. Feedback is really volunteering. It lets Macmillan improve the service it gives you so you can help Macmillan easier.

Just in case anyone was not sure, Volunteering is awesome and this new system should make it even more awesome.

Hopefully someone will find this blog useful. Please feel free to ask me any questions, comments or compliments.
