Trouble swallowing

Less than one minute read time.

I had a transhiatal esophagectomy mid February, have been eating pureed food since coming out of hospital, then tried un-pureed food, this made me sick as I couldn't swallow it. I now seem to be living on yoghurt and soup as anything with even the smallest lumps makes me gag or be sick. When I swallow it feels like someone pressing my throat. Any help gratefully recieved.

Thanks for getting back to me, I knew it was going to be a long road. I too have lost two stone but one of those I deliberately put on before going in for surgery. I had a meeting with the speech and language therapist last week and she has given me a list of exercises to loosen the tension in the side of my neck and throat, since then I have been able to eat more than I could.

    Regards Vince
