hot flushes got me good

Less than one minute read time.
Hi , just posted on the forum about the dreaded hot flushes what a nightmare thought they were bad before . Keep checking my temp but its fine. The flushes are sending me neurotic i think .Had a word with my macmillian nurse & she gave advice for vitiam e ,acupunture & aromatherapy so will try those & pass on results . Still feeling ok though very tired sleeping a lot more than normal .Trying to drink lots i drink a lot of water anyway so thats not to bad but my lovely cuppa tastes awfull so switched to peppermint tea. Though still have to have a morning cup of tea to start the day as normal.Still pain free apparntly this can happen so thats a good side effect like the good ones though so far i am doing well will write more soon love treeze xxx

The weather's not helping treeze: I've gone through about six duvets until I'm now onto Tog 3 and that's much better!  Keep a glass of water by your bedside and even a cold-water spray (never mind the pot plants, spray yourself!).  I find that as well as hot flushes I get really cold - I just don't seem to be able to regulate my body temp any more.  I too like an early morning cuppa - it's the only thing to get me going. I found that I didn't like the taste of normal tea so drank Rooibos (or Redbush).  It's a south african "tea" which you drink with either milk or lemon and it has a lovely slightly nutty flavour.  Very good if you're feeling a bit queasy too.  I found I was really tired and at the end of the day you just have to rest.  Sitting under a tree sniffing the roses is what kept me going! Good luck.  Gaia

  • Hi,

You poor thing - yes I know, they're horrible but in my experience they do seem to lessen with time. Obviously the McMillan nurse is the best person to advise you. I didn't have chemo but I certainly went off drinking coffee or tea for several months and had a metalic taste in my mouth. The only other time that happened when when I was pregnant but no chance of THAT being the reason now! (I'm 60) All the best with your treatment.
