Can't win?

Excuse me for sounding off but there is something I need really need to get off my chest. My little Miss Pepperpot has been having the District Nurse coming in as and when it takes her (the District Nurse that is) fancy. I could understand it if she was coming out of her way, but we live on an estate and the District Nurse has to visit a patient everyday who lives in the block next door. As Miss Pepperpot is managing her life as best she can, meaning when she feels up to it she will pop down the road to the chemist or just down to the local shop, the District Nurse has now decided that my Miss Pepperpot is well enough to go down to the doctors every other day to have the dressings on her neck changed. I think this is totally outrageous, to the point that I am fuming. Don't get me wrong I have no qualms in going upstairs to change Miss Pepperpot's dressings but I am not a trained nurse. She has a box full of medical stuff and I don't know what I should or shouldn't be using, so following what Miss Pepperpot tells me, I litterally remove the dressings and reapply new ones. There is nothing in her medical box like sterile water or stuff to bathe the nasty growths with which are constantly bleeding. I feel so sorry for my little Miss Pepperpot because had she just given up and decided that life weren't worth living, staying in and becoming a recluse, the chances are the District Nurse would be round everyday. The Macmillan nurse visits every 10 days or so. All I can say is thank god Miss Pepperpot has some decent loyal friends and neighbours who are there to help her or god knows how she would cope alone. Sorry people for sounding off, but just had to get that off my chest.

Poor Miss Pepperpot and all her friends and family.  My advice is find out what GP practice Mrs P is and ring them asking to leave a message for the District Nurse and simply say that Mrs Pepperpot is housebound and very seldom does she feel well enough to go to the shops and please could she resume visits. You should also say that you have been changing the dressings and do not feel qualified to do so and find it distressing.  You could also say that Mrs Pepperpot is at risk of catching the many viruses flying around the surgery and this isn't acceptable for a lady who is already vulnerable.  That should get the DN visiting - Good luck!  You must be a great friend to have.
