Stress Stress Stress!!

Less than one minute read time.
Aagghhhhh I have spent ages trying to talk to someone at my local PCT regading the funding for my transplant. Each day I call in the morning, I call again around lunch time and then again in the afternoon. I speak to lots of voice mail boxes and leave lots of messages but no-one has attempted to get in touch. Today I spoke to the health service ombudsman who gave me the details of the chief executive of the PCT and what do you know as soon as I mention his name I get put through to a human. I was so surprised I couldn't think of what to say!! I also contacted my local MP's office, they called me back within 2 hours and were most helpful. At least some progress is being made, all I need now are some answers

    Hi Trog,

Oh, I didn't realise you were fighting for funding. How bloody dare they make you do all this crap? I'm so sorry you're having all this hassle. It's the last thing you need.

Can't think of anything helpful to say except fingers crossed and good luck. A bit feeble, love, but it's the best I can do.

    Love, Shelagh

    Hi Shelagh

Thanks for your comment, it seems everyone I talk to thinks it is outragous. If my donor was a complete stranger the funding would be there but because she is family we are expected to find the money; £16k is lots of money to suddenly pull out of a hat. I must add this is only funding for her to be able to donate from abroad, the actual transplant is being paid for by the NHS

Wouldn't it be cheaper to fly her home to give the bone marrow? Are they charging to take the bone marrow abroad and transport it to UK? Bring her home is my advice.
