Bowel Cancer the beginning

Initial diagnosis

Well, here i am a year or so on from my initial meeting with my doctor when i heard those fateful words 'you have cancer', at first they thought it was lymphoma, and because of my age the doctor organised for me to start fertility treatment straight away, while i waited for a date for a biopsy to be taken to confirm the diagnoses, little did I know that not only was it cancer but it was actually advanced bowel cancer!

When i meet the doctor to hear the results I couldn't believe their attitude towards me and my family and even more worrying being the doctors (sarcastic tone required) kind words, 'where we are now surgery isn't possible and you may want to go home and consider further treatment', consider!!! What is there to consider, get me an oncologist now!!!

And thank god i did see an oncologist within the hour who gave me the hope i needed that there was treatment to consider and he doesn't give up on people!

The next couple of weeks were a bit of a blur, from my initial meeting with my oncologist, he wrote to a top professor at the marsden in London to ensure the treatment plan he was considering for me was the best available, and with his agreement i saw my oncologist the next week, agreed the plan, was weighed for my treatment doses and booked in for a picc line on the Friday with treatment to start the next Monday, so from no hope there was a light at the end of the tunnel and I could begin treatment (good job seeing that I was now struggling to walk with the pain and eating hardly anything and sleeping none stop!).
