Finding out about the next stage of treatment

Less than one minute read time.
Would be interested to know whether other people have difficulty in finding out what there next stage of treatment is and its associated timescale is? I am currently receiving radiotherapy but am having difficulty in finding out what tests will be carried out after it and when I see the consultant

Hi Tony, Welcome to the 'club'. Who are you asking on your team these questions? I know they can't give absolute answers etc but surely someone can give you some idea?  Do you have a Macmillan nurse that you could talk to? If not I'm sure you could talk to one of the nurses available on this site. I hope you get some answers soon!

    Take care

    Thanks for your reply

    Hi

My treatment is taking place across three NHS trusts and four different hospitals.

Hopefully I shall be seeing the Macmillan nurse this week at Brighton Cancer Center

Talking to other patients at Brighton this seems a general problem.

Each time we speak to somebody the timescales seem to extend by another couple of months

I am not really "newbie" but first time I have started a blog and have taking an active interest in other peoples blogs

My treatment has been going on since last March and this phase will be completed around mid May this year. Currently I am on a combination of hormone therapy and radiotherapy.  All good fun but takes up every weekday. My illness has just taking over our lives completely and seems never ending.

Fortunately my cancer was diagnosed by accident and just time in time before it started to spread

Regards to everybody reading this blog

hi tony my husband had bowel cancer and we found that when your with different hospitals its twice as hard to get any firm answers. the mcmillan nurses were great but i found that you do have to not be frightened to bother them as that is what they are there for. if you dont always feel up to ringing them yourself get a family member to do it for you . i felt a nuisance sometimes but then realized that they understood my fears.its important to you to know what going on there end.hope you feel good again soon and stay strong.
