Hi .
i have not posted anything on this site before as I didn t feel i knew enough about the subject to comment .
My husband was diagnosed 7th sept with grade 4 tonsil cancer which has spread to the back of the tongue ..we went through the usual bit of tonsils out followed by four teeth on the right side and then two regimes ..First one being week 1 week 4 and week 7 of taxotere , cisplatin and 5pu on a pump for 5 days ...The week of treatment was harsh with nausea and sickness no matter what anti sickness he took ..the next week reintroduce food and then the third week eating as much as possible to try to gain the weight again and so on .....we have finished that regime now so feel we are half way there ..
2nd regime started monday ..( its the hard on ) .again chemo week1 week4 and week7 ..this time carboplatin and 5pu on the pump for 5 days along side radiotherapy.every week day for 7 weeks .....this is a very harsh treatment made even worse emotionally as week 7 is new year week and we have two children aged 11 and 6 ..A bed has already been reserved week 6 and 7 as they know it will be very painful ....I feel that this cancer is particularly harsh as the RT is very painful being in the mouth ....
Any advice or comments would greatly be appreciated because I feel as though I am just in a blur and just going from day to day doing what the nurses tell us ..
