Hi Ann, i havent had back flap but had masectomy and temporary chest expander put in. I can honestly say its not as bad as you think it will be. When i  woke up it was good to see somthing there. Keep youself propped up as that was the worst feeling of heaviness in my chest from what i suppose was the pushing and pulling in the op. Ask for plenty of painkillers even if you dont really need them and you will get excersises to do so do them but do them very slowly. Before the op i was so nervous and i had to put in my mind, what choice is there, this has to be done to survive. the nurses and docs are brilliant and get as much information from breast care nurse. If you know a friend of a friend of a friend who has had this, speak to them. They wont mind as anyone who has been through this knows how awful it is mentally so only they can understand.

    Good Luck Kaz x
