Post 549: Let’s talk it over a pint of mild.
The bumps on the way to the pub made the journey very uncomfortable but the warm welcome from er, Brian and Lorraine was enough to ease any pain I had, and the table we reserved for dinner became alive with chatter the whole time we were there. The food was excellent and so lovely to catch up and vent, and eat and eat and eat.
It’s still a mystery to me that I haven’t sussed out where the back and neck pain came from and because it’s sprung from nowhere I’m just not sure that the Radium is the right way to go.
The problem is that there’s hardly any down sides to the medication but could be helpful in getting the cancer checked and the pain abated.
So why should I be so reticent?
I feel that if I do have the Radium
treatment, the only treatment available to me now and for the future, and get the benefit of the chemicals, I’d be endangering a third of all the time in the next six months that I can’t be with our sons baby that’s due in five weeks.
This is obviously a very personal issue which is only here for this moment in time. But some is the treatment…
It’s an easy conundrum to puzzle for anyone else but me. It seems that I have a firm understanding that it will be good for me and that the chances of this being given in the future would depend on my cancer staying only on my bones. If it was to be found anywhere other than the bone Mets I’d loose the funding and the treatment instantly.
So it’s an easy decision that I’m choking on.
I should be on the phone making plans to start this Radium now. But, i just can’t, not just now…
The tattoo, my right sleeve is starting to itch and is properly annoying. It’s weird that it’s the only one of 4 that has I he’d at all. I guess that’s lucky for me. Anyway, in two days, on Wednesday I’ll be getting the next two hour instalment on it and that will be the finish of the outline and directly after it I’ll be getting the Zoladex hormone injection. Another three month zap that hardly does any to help me but it’s not allowed to be stopped. Apparently it is of some use and my arguments that it’s useless is not heeded. But before all that is my Darlings birthday tomorrow.
She already has the most wonderful flowers from our northern friends who bring them to the pub. What a lovely start to her celebrations.
I’m not sure quite what to do because I have a counselling session first thing tomorrow morning and after I would have liked to get in the driving seat and treat my Darling to a trip around the town centre and a wee shop in a favourite shop.
The thing is that I’m not at all sure I can drive so I’m going to have to ask her to cover the drive in to the heart of the town for a parking spot that’s close enough to where I think she might like to go. I hope it all works out.
A meal later is great but as I’ve found out before, the restaurants aren’t open Mondays usually, so the takeouts and eat ins in the home town. We shall see what she wants.
The week is going to be busy with her birthday Monday, Wednesday with Brian and lorriane, Thursday with out our youngest and his plus one and a half ha ha. Friday is the weighbridge and fish and chips (possibly), so it’s a full on week of eating out.
I look forward to my weight on Friday after my weekend weight being slightly down at 12 stone 3 pounds.
I’d better get ready for the big day ahead so take care,
