Post 547: Back ache has risen to the neck, oh hell.
With the back ache becoming a real nuisance now it only gone and moved to my neck, the right side of my neck in particular which is gruesome.
I definitely couldn’t drive today and as for the trip north to see our darling friends and eldest son and daughter in law, well, it’s looking like it might not even happen.
We look forward to a two week break on or after our anniversary and for my Darlings birthday, we’ve been doing it for years and love the late summer early autumn colours and sometimes the emptiness.
This year’s holiday has stepped back a week into November but with the hot and sunny summer just over this year I’m sure the fells would be at their best around then. What a grand years it been, apart from the drought around here in Sussex of course.
Leaving aside the actual decision to go up north there are two things today that are the first storm of the season blowing through and my Darling nudging away at the 3-stone loss at Slimming World.
The storm was going to bring some much needed rain but in the end the winds weren’t at all what they could have been. And by the time Big Sis arrived for a take out afternoon meet up the storms eye had passed and the trouble it caused was minimal thankfully.
As for my guests, they came in and noticed my neck immediately.
Within a couple of minutes my Darling was home too, and the shopping she could put into three big bags. We all got chatting as the shopping was put away and the kettle had boiled and I had made a cuppa for Sis and Brother-in-law and I filled them in on the oncology meeting yesterday which gave me the choices for treatment.
Yes the choices aren’t that great but at least there is a choice and after reading the fact sheets on Radium, it’s likely this is the only possibility.
We will add up the pros and cons in a quiet moment and make a decision quickly.
While we were chatting and I desired to move the conversation from me to my Darling, I asked how she got on at the meeting and especially the scales…
With a flourish she pulled a card out of her bag. A purple Three Stone Loss card; she had done it.
After a month since she extended the loss from 2 3/4 stone to 3 stone it was done. Well done my Darling. What an achievement.
She deserves great credit for sticking to her guns and getting this amazing loss, and realising that’s exactly where her weight should be for her health.
What an amazing test of patience, and with my diet of Sweets and biscuits it’s all the more amazing I haven’t knocked her of plan. She is amazing.
After the congratulations, we all decided to have fish and chips and that was going to be very easy with four shops in the town, so we ordered by phone the nearest one and in 10 minutes Big Sis and my Darling headed off in the car which make things easier in the blustery winds this afternoon.
While they were away bro and I set the table and warmed the plates ready for the huge fish coming along the road back to us.
The supper was lovely, fresh and everything we needed for a filling meal. In fact it seemed a perfect plate full even though it was meant to be a medium cod x 4 and one large chips and one (yucky) portion of mushy pee’s, for my Darling.
We retired to the tv lounge and into my comfy seat so I could stay put and look after our guests but I was struggling with the pain.
It seems nothing will stop the pain no matter what and I wish it wasn’t so. To cheer us all up I chose a winter film or two. Yes Christmas films basically, ho ho.
Our guests turned in early because it was a “school day” for Sis and after they went I was left to watch Traitors on the Beeb. It’s a programme which is growing on me and much of the country I guess. But after that was done I went to bed and took my pain with me.
The decision for the holiday will be made tomorrow and I feel it’s not going to be good news.
Good night and take care.
See you soon Brian.
