Post 519: Will Haribos be enough to make me smile on a dull day?

Yes, I love Fridays.

It’s the day that starts my extra long weekend till Tuesday before it sees me back in the throws of unfamiliar computer work.

So I have as usual a long period of fun time without my Darling, but, sometimes when I’m not so mobile around the house Its torture and a total waste.

After the moan and groan yesterday I feel I’ve got most of my angst off my chest. I did receive an appointment for another phone call about my complaint regarding the blood test reporting in which the Dr who hasn’t met me told me I’m diabetic which I’m not.

This second call aught to be an apology and a rethink over my test results but I’m not holding my breath.

It’s not until late afternoon Monday so I’ll not worry about it till then.

Mr Vicious started the day as normal crying at my bedroom window so I got up and fed him before he woke my Darling in the other bedroom down the hall.

The surprising thing about Mr V is that during this late summer sun and heat he’s not at all interested in coming into the house like he did all summer.

I have had a few cuddles with him but I think he knows about the baby and his nose is put out of joint.

That sounds silly but I’m sure he’s noticed the unopened boxes and packages downstairs littering the place of all the necessary items that are needed before or during birth and baby-life thereafter. It sounds a bit over the top but the fact remains that the list of useful items that our son and his fiancé has on a list somewhere or other is being eaten up by my Darling as she makes these purchases and leaves them lying around our home. So the cat would have to be blind and stupid not to notice how the land lies right now between us and him. Ha ha.

So on a Friday and the scales are slipped out from under the bathroom cabinet for my weekly weight in. I’m 12st 2lbs and that’s enough for now - I’ll have to put the brakes on my over-eating, if I can which is the polar opposite of my Darling who is still under the limit she imposed on herself at Slimming World and told the organisers today that she’d be best to lower her target weight by another half a stone putting the whole weight loss from the start last year, to a massive 3 stone loss. So I wish her well and hope it’s not a struggle and perhaps I’ll have to take her out to a suitable venue for a celebration.

I always knew that she’d be happier loosing weight than maintaining her weight when it’s still falling off her.

But as for me, I’m happy to sway between 11.5 and 12.5 Stone.

As for my blood pressure, I haven’t tested at home but I was normal when I went to the female doctor for that drug review yesterday. She was glad my numbers were absolutely normal as opposed to the very low results last Friday at the hospital before the acid infusion. So I’m lucky my BP jumped back this week.

So with all that in mind I scooted around the expensive small superstore I usually do after dropping my Darling off to the slimming world meeting and shopped for the usual bits for the weekend, namely fish and ice cream.

The fish came in at £27 quid before the Friday discount of a fiver and the other few bit of fruit and little jar of English Mustard (to liven the palette). Yes it’s expensive, but the salmon is slightly smoked and there’s 4 big slices for dinners over the weekend. Yummy.

But what bothers me is my back while I limp around the shop with my little trolly, it’s a right bloody inconvenience.

I should also mention that I left the shopping list and digital membership card in the car so if I wanted the fish discount I would need the phone before the checkout, that I was heading for. But the lady at the service desk obligingly kept hold of my trolly while I legged it back to the car to retrieve the phone and get the discounts.

Phew! What a palaver!

Anyway it was home I went for a snack before the main event of the day in the tattoo parlour at 2pm, which I was really looking forward to. Bloody insane more like. Ha ha!

Whilst my Darling hand my presence in the inky parlour last week the appointment I had today was while she was busy at the SW meeting and the cafe de-brief afterwards, which I wouldn’t like to interfere with; so I went alone. I’m a big boy now.

I arrived at 2pm and sat in the slippery inking chair a bit like the old dentist had in my youth. It was a light tan shin leather and while I did get comfy it was hard to sit in one spot without slipping down the way.

My left arm was the only thing that needed a degree of stability and with a few wriggles I was perfectly comfortable.

It must have been ok cos Gary, the inky artist and boss, smiled and got on with it.

An hour later and it was done and all wrapped up in cling film like a joint of meat. I was very happy with the look of it but it was early days for the wound (because that’s just what it is, a wound) to heal and for the shading to be subtly visible. I had no time to admire the inky handy work because of my appointment at the physiotherapist’s clinic at 4pm which it was heading towards by the time I got home.

As I left our house and closed the front door I saw that my Darling was being dropped off home by her good mate Sal who I said hi and goodbye to as I passed them heading out to the appointment.

This physio appointment would be the last I’d have about my R/S right shoulder. The R/S is now not in pain and has enough movement and flexibility to be getting along with. I was given extra movements to help my scapular pain in my back that I mention for the first time this week and these extra movements were to maintain the back issue while still keeping the routine stretches that have made such a difference to me and my shoulder. So we left friends and if I need to, I can call them within the year if I should need more help.

I returned home to an inquisitive wife who insisted I now wash the sweaty inky wrapped left arm while she rustled up sausage and mash with runners and carrots for my dinner. Yum-me!

The tattoo looked fab after a wash and careful dry off and I could take a photo and send it around the family who were anticipating the tattoo photos. Which everyone was pleased with, and somewhat envious by the look of comments I received.

Happy days.

The best bit was that I didn’t have any extra problem with my back while I was ‘in the chair’, so I’m pleased to say it’s a success.

I’ve already booked my next tat in two week time. I’ll tell you later what it is but it’s in keeping with the essence I’ve already got with my first tattoo.

More later.

And with that the day was done and dusted. We both retired to bed early (8pm) but I couldn’t sleep until I got my dosette boxes filled for next week’s pills.

It took me a good half an hour to fill the pesky boxes but I’m now set up for the week. The big struggle for me is the amount of pill boxes I have now, including those steroids the hospice left me on.

I’ll talk to them next week and organise more (or less) steroids as they advise.

So that’s it and all about it.

A better day.

Take care and sleep well if you can.

PS

Thank you all so very much for helping me though my bad day yesterday and for your support and understanding.xx
