Post 506: Yes, another sunny day.

With my Darling gone to work at 4am and not back till 2pm I’m left in the house alone, or should it read, while the cats away the mice will play.

The cat was fed early and lately he’s been happy just to nudge me as my hand tries to reach his bowl on the floor in the garage. He’s ok, I’m ok’ish, and the world’s ok except for a whole lot of weeds that have popped up between the cracks in the pavers all around the house and garden. I want to clean up a bit; but can I?

My back and neck high on my shoulders is where pain is still leaving me very uncomfortable but, I’ve not had much Oramorph lately so perhaps I should bite the bullet and get out side for a bit. I can dull the pain l later with a sip or two of my morphine assistant.

The lovely day outside turns into a proper nice autumn day with its leaves swirling around my feet as I leave the back garage door open to air the place. The wind is gusty but helpful not strong and destructive so I can use it to my advantage if I can only lift those grassy weeds.

I open the shed where my bikes are getting dusty, I can’t use them to play with and I don’t have any pangs of needing to get out on them, even though I’d love it if I could. I grab the hoes and get back to it on the patio where occasional tall weeds are mixed with short flowery things and some of my industry is already paying off as the weeds tumble off their once secure crack to be felled by the occasional gardener’s handiwork.

This light hoeing is going well and I haven’t even got my gloves on yet.

By the time I’m back to the rear garage door which still gaps at me I feel happy to be doing a little clearing and although I’ve not got much energy I’m still up for the games in the gusty garden.

Some of the lighter weeds I’ve left on the patio prostrate are now following me around my feet in swirls that befit a Sunday afternoon treat, but sweet treats are for after the jobs done and I’m not done in yet, quite.

I continue around the back garden out through the back gate and into the close where a few neighbors are doing various chores and when I’m spotted I start up a chat which in turn fills my kind neighbours on my condition and equally joins the dots on their lives and loves.

Pets that were put down, kids that are helpful and gaining adulthood, clearing up the house in an autumnal clean and simple everyday things that just happen as we live our lives.

I don’t get into the conversation about the fact that I can’t smell ‘weed’ half so much as I did, that can be a silent thing that I’m appreciative of but doesn’t need saying today. It’s just a sign of the times probably and I continue to chat while trying to summon the energy to weed some more.

As I get to the front of the house more neighbors are visible and come over for more chats. More charming life stories and this time future happenings.

There’s to be a three week major rebuild  of their back garden fence which is coming out and being replaced with a wall with a fence within (on top of) so there will be destruction, noise and a skip and van nightmare in front of their home where normally they park both their vans and her car, but that’s not possible soon because there vehicles will be repositioned down the close somewhere, where ever possible.

I suggest that she can park anytime she likes on our side driveway where a safe and out the way parking spot will save her the hunt for a spot to park and in the neighbourly exchange she offers her hubbies ability to cut my small but now overgrown front lawn, when he can.

Jobs a good’en. That suits me. A bit of happy give and take is always helpful in the neighbourhood and I continue to use the rest of my energy to clear up the mess I’d made which is still swirling behind me.

I quickly, well as quickly as I can, pick up the weeds and head inside for a bite to eat but first the tools of the trade need to be thrown back in the bike shed.

Happy thoughts surround me as I sit down in front of the tv just before my Darling gets home, and I munch on my ham roll and a fresh fig which is to die for. Everything tastes nicer after a bit of real work around the house and the fig is a perfect sweet treat. I can attack the Haribo’s later, ha ha.

The cat jumps off my lap as the front door opens and a very tired looking Darling walks in and sits beside me explaining her day at work.

I don’t say what I’ve been up to, there’s no reason to, let’s sympathise with her tiredness first and foremost. I put on the 4th part of Ludvig, the drama about a puzzle maker and the police agency that is helped by his wonderful mind. Anyway, my Darling is half asleep after only one part of the series and it’s decided that dinner comes first, and early today, so I’m given a simple task to help the dinner along which is fairly successful and I leave the salmon to my Darlings loving care not mine; I’d only mess it up.

We both sit with our tv fishy dinner and watch the tv when there wasn’t an Irish relative to chat to online or the door bell interfering with the flow of teasing clues to the police investigation. But hey! What’s this?

It’s the longest shoe-horn ever from that company that puts a smile on all their boxes. The shoe horn’s for me because I’m not able to bend down so well lately and this will help with clothing my feet much easier, the ones we had are for able bodied men and women, and that ain’t me.

So another day peter’s out nicely without much ado.

I had my hours in the windy sun and got away with it; until my Darling reads this, which she might not even do. Ha ha.

I go to bed early and say goodnight to my hard working love of my life as she falls into her bedroom shattered.

There’ll be another load of weeds to knock down tomorrow, if I can be bothered, so the growth I’ve captured and put into the green (brown) wheelie bin will only be a third full but that’s a big job for me.

My naked weight this week was 11st 6lbs but that’s after a bad-tummy week, next week I’ll have had a load more kids sweets (Haribo’s) to chew on so I fully expect to bounce back.

Have a lively weekend, take care and sleep well.
