Post 505: Nature all around, but so to is good news.

With photos of the changes in the season coming thick and fast I’ve noticed some grasses that are beautifully painted although we know it’s “just” Mother Nature.

But while I was heading for Big Sis and her idea that a coffee in a big garden centre would be the best course of action before their trip to Wales to see old friends.

In fact as I walked in before her after a great meeting with another new Dr. at the GP. surgery where we discussed the prescription changes I suggested and the other routine stuff like depression pills and group (or one2one sessions) the time passed fruitfully and I came to like this new lady Dr.

The meeting ended with a few tears and some good advice without any pressure on me at all. I left with a smile a relief that I had been listened to carefully and that’s all you want and indeed need sometimes.

So back to the pansy pots on tables at the front door of the garden centre, which I passed by quickly to find out if Big Sis had already arrived before me, which she hadn’t, so I grabbed a young assistant for advice about a large BBQ cover but he said that was summer stuff and gone from the shelves; to which I was more than a little flustered but as I turned around Sis, with a massive smile, grabbed me sorely for a great big hug and walked me straight to the café entrance for sustenance.

The choices were good for the sweet stuff we were checking out but in the end I asked for a breakfast roll and decaf coffee while she had her favourite Royale or Benedict poached eggs, which when they arrived you couldn’t fault to be honest.

We sat in the window seats in a huge restaurant area with the hot sun beating down on us while we chatted and ate our fill.

After which we had a good look around the other main areas of sales, without the garden stuff, with all the Christmas stuff being put out. There was a tempting Lindt 1kg after Christmas (not) miniature at a huge cost of £80, gulp!

I thought of my HbA1c blood test next week and thought better of it. Someone else can buy it and give themselves a dentists delight, ha ha!

I wandered into the Hotter shoe shop while Big Sis shopped around the clothes store and I found some shoes for me, and when she found me Sis found some herself, so I bought her them as a gift for Xmas; I’ll wrap it and hide it at home somewhere. One down and a hundred to go…

We left after exchanges of warm hugs and my wishes that they, Bro and Big Sis, have a lovely time in Wales all next week.

I went back into town, through the dreaded roadworks that currently is gumming up the whole town from the middle! But once through I parked up and headed for an off licence, as a treat for my Darling who has absolutely smashed her cardio blood tests. In fact the results were so good it’s like she has a perfect body now. She was so worried about her dreadful family history, when talking hearts and cardio death, in fact five siblings are already in the ground but not my Darling.

All she needs is an x-ray and she’s done for now with her medical checks.

She, as you’d expect, is ecstatic like me and can now shout about how hard she’s worked to get ahead of any aging medical problems with a proactive dose or two of statins and the amazing 2.5 stone she’s lost at SW (Slimming World).

What a transformation from last year and also to see her smiling from ear to ear is fantastic. Go girl!

With these impressive improvements in mind and her want for a few little tattoo’d stars behind one ear she took her bestie for her first tat’ and she could get the stars herself, while they had the skin artistry applied. It was my Darlings first time and after the sudden death of her favourite horse last week, she had a lovely and sympathetic tat of her Leo.

Everyone was happy.

I’m so happy for them both.

My bloods are next week… (I can’t hope for anything as brilliant as my Darlings but I am older by two years and addicted to Haribo too).

I bought a bottle of Chateuxneuf du Pape (a French beauty we love) and a white fizz (Prosecco) she loves dearly and set off back home from an exhausting day.

My Darling was so happy with her tat’s which clearly made a lot of personal sense to her.

On Monday she’s going back to see if they can do a big tattoo with Brother Kevin’s ugly mug, which we have a drawing for him to follow. We miss him so.

I had settled in for the afternoon with the tv and a newly born fig to chew on when I got a call from an old mate that changed my day rapidly.

He comes from Gloucestershire and I see him every time he’s in the county for car, bike and steam shows and just a few miles away he was in a field for the big-show and steam fair of the season.

He has had a horrid year of health and after ringing a mate and his wife to see if they wanted to go to the first evening’s entertainment, we set off to meet him (and others) on the last weekends rallying.

It was great to see him and to know I made him smile. He was quiet to start with but opened up to me later so much so that he was a different guy when we left and said goodbye. How good is that. Bringing a little smile to his face was brilliant.

So smile if you can, take care and sleep well.

Good night.
