Post 482: A few steps outside.
I will probably work my full six hours this week, but next week I have the bone scan, so I’ve only got four hours to find work for.
What I mean is, it’s getting harder to find paperwork for me to do. I thought I’d run out yesterday, but we found another two days’ work.
It’s a shame I can’t depend on a couple of hours every day, but that depends on the flow of projects and the changes that need to be made.
A few days here and there will be alright.
I’m not fussy.
Running to and fro in the Mini is great fun. The only problem is getting in and out of it.
But it shows how much more flexible I am now that I can jump in, shoot off somewhere and get out again without making a major effort.
Wherever I’m going.
My general health is better than it was at the turn of the year.
Back then, after two falls — one major and the other minor — I had a stiff neck, a really painful back, and sitting down was something I could only do for short periods before I needed to lie down and have a breather.
I’m also not using the Oramorph as much for miscellaneous pains.
So, all up, I’m a healthy and happy bunny.
I say all this, but it’s a week before the bone scan, and that could change everything, of course.
But I’m looking on the bright side.
I feel the bone scan will only show limited progression that isn’t going to change the course I’m on.
The course of wait and look.
I’d prefer not to have any more poisons, and I hope my wishes will be honoured.
I’ve got a coffee meet-up with my old pal Paul on Saturday, two days from now, and I hope we can discuss and develop a start to the book.
I don’t know if the idea I have in my head will make sense to anyone else, but I’m going to try it out on my pal and see what he says.
The big family meal on Saturday evening should be fun.
Everyone should be there for Mum’s final goodbye.
She’s now in her grave, and everyone can reach it, which I think has already helped the family move on.
Somewhere to take flowers and talk to her — if that’s your thing — will always help us in moments of need.
I had her remains, her ashes, for four years.
I think that was getting to be unhealthy for me and everyone else, to be honest.
It was okay for a while, but I didn’t realise how important it was to get her into her own grave, where we could all get to her easily and independently.
This weekend will, in a way, put to bed a lot of thoughts we’ve all harboured for too long.
And I welcome that refreshing outcome.
My Darling has still not made much of an impression on the outdoors.
Her ability to walk is obviously hampered by the injury she sustained to her calf, but she isn’t interested in walking out at all.
Not even a little walk down the road.
This has impacted my health too, and right now I think I should stop waiting for her to get some kind of regime of increasing exercise and do whatever I want to do.
Perhaps I should start today.
I can walk a flat circuit of the block.
I’ll tell you how I got on later.
This week’s eclipse was an interesting scientific happening and gave everyone a reason to think about things bigger than themselves for a change.
For me, it means it will probably be the last time I see an eclipse.
And that goes for many people, because the next one is 64 years away.
That’s nearly my age now.
So unless I chase an eclipse around the world, my life will probably be devoid of these amazing celestial phenomena.
Which brings me back to the next step.
Literally.
A few steps outside.
Big Sis isn’t coming today, so I could go for a walk.
The fungi will be out soon after the first rains of September, and I’m interested to see how the drought has affected them.
So perhaps that’s what I’ll do.
A few steps.
A little bit of fresh air.
Nothing heroic.
Just moving forwards.
Have a great weekend, whatever you do.
And sleep well, if you can.
Take care.
