Post 409: Pinch punch the first of the month.

Where’s the year going? June is here with summer in tow, and it would be nice to have a long hot summer.

But already the water companies are sending out information of how to save water and with the lack of rain this year the hosepipe ban will no doubt be reimposed. That’s the problem with living in a county that has few reservoirs and many new housing projects sucking up even more water out of the same stretch of water. When will there be a concerted effort to use second hand water to flush loos and sprinkle on the garden.

Any way my stats have not been updated lately so I will.give you a bit of an update.

My temperature is stable and weight seems steady at just a shade under 12 stone the last time I was able to fetch the scales out from under the drawers in the bathroom.

That’s the rub.

I have a problem bending down to the floors so I’ve asked for a pair of 3 foot long grippers to extend my arms.

Obviously the gripper won’t ever get the weighing scales out from under the drawers but I can pick bits of rolled up Toblerone foil that missed the bin in the bedroom after I threw it from 4 feet away in my bed. Oopsy!

It’s our 36th anniversary tomorrow and we shared a grand bottle of red wine last night. A Penfolds bin 8 (other reds are available from the fest of the world, not just Australia) which was a rare delight. We drunk the beautiful Shiraz Cabernet from our very old now, Micky and Mini small glasses. I think Micky was blinking for an hour or so, due to the fact they don’t often see the light of day very often, as they are a cherished possession and a Disney souvenir.

I miss the Disney shops with their illustrations and posters and all kinds of expensive gifts we could give each other on occasions such as these. But there’s only online shops unless you’re in a resort these days. And that’s an expensive outing.

We went to Florida Wold Disney Park a good few years ago for the first and last time. We were alone because the kids had grown up now.

It was our dream to get there with the kids but resources were always in short supply and mum and dad had nothing to give us so air family trip away was as yet not realised.

But going back to my back and health before rudely thrown in a plane across the world.

My back is stiff still and I’m guessing will only get worse sadly. But I can live with that, it’s the knees that really hurt and are not able now to kneel on the ground. It’s excruciating if I do accidentally end up on the ground because there’s no way I can get up. That’s mainly due to the strength of my upper legs that can’t hold my body weight any more.

It’s not much fun but I guess it’s all part of growing older.

Other than that both shoulders are creaking and have limited movement.

But on the plus side my right shoulder is flexible enough now to lean on in bed, but not all night. The hips a creaking too now I come to think about it, but really I’m in good shape and can still sip the odd bottle of wine, so it’s not all bad.

I don’t know if anything’s planned tomorrow but who cares, we are both off so can enjoy it how we like.

It’s amazing to think that we were on an Irish alter in a little but beautiful chapel in 1990 and the years have been good to us. Just still awaiting grand babies not those fur babies that both our kids have. (But I suppose I shouldn’t go there for fear of reprisals).

I never ask how you are, my readers. It’s not that I don’t think of you, nor the fact you’re on this site gives me no recourse to ask. We are all surviving and trying to make the best of what is given us. So I wish all of you readers well. Just because I’m having my birthday and anniversary today doesn’t mean I can’t ask.

It’s only a day in the year that aught to remind me of mum and dad, but in doing that I feel slightly blue.

Blue because of their struggles with their chosen partners. Both were remarried and both chose badly and were treated like skum from their new loves.

Isn’t it strange.

They would have been better off with their first love…

Oh the twists and turns of marital life.

Sometimes I wake up a think I’m not ill with the abominable PC and as acronyms go this is a good one.

Sometimes pick one of these that Thales your fancy and tell me which one you prefer.

I’m a helpful printed circuit today thanks.

Good night

Take care.
