Post 197: Travel chaos on day one, heading north.
The cases are packed — we’re off on the train.
The platform is busy, but we all wait in vain.
The Victoria flyer has passed right on by,
Leaving us swearing and ready to cry.

Here’s a quick update of a day that went off the rails before we even started.
“We are sorry for the delay, but we are waiting for a driver,” came over the tannoy.
Then, to make matters worse, the new driver drove on by the crowded platform of London-bound customers as if we’d forgotten to put our hands out to request a stop.
The mood in the crowd was as you’d expect, but we realised that our connections were now broken and we would need to revise our travel plans.
Suffice to say, we did struggle and hop-on-and-off way too many trains to mention, but we arrived at Carlisle Station with the best ever smiles and hugs from our friends up north, and fell into their car for the drive “home”, where a cuppa was waiting.
After some comforting jacket spuds and a cuppa or two more, we had forgotten the day’s train-torture and went to bed happy — happy to be away on a break that we certainly need, and my Darling deserves.
I can add that I slept right through the night and woke with the morning light, just before the first pill alarm.
Fantastic.
I hope you slept well too.
(and)
Good morning xx
