Three weeks post Treatment!!!!!!

1 minute read time.

Hello there strangers, its been a long time since i blogged on here but to tell you the truth i didnt have the energy then, not much better now but i thought i just give a little update.

Nearly three weeks since the last treatment of RT and i can say im getting quite impatient,  loads of mucous, thick flemgn which is a chest infection at the mo, spent three weeks in hospital for sickness and just being so ill, am home now but i cant hardly swallow still and cant ever imagine not having my feeding PEG!   I would be grateful if there is anyone out there who has had this RT to throat and neck, how long is it roughly before you start to eat normally again???   I keep trying but its agony, my mouth is full all the time of watery thick stuff which i keep spitting out, its disgusting!!!!!!

No energy at all just living in and out of bed and am sick of the same four walls, sorry to sound so negative but i really thought it would be quicker than this with the swallowing.    I realise everthing is burnt and food does not taste like it should is this normal with your taste buds??????  When do they come back ?????

Sorry but at the moment cant see anything positive to shout about, hope you are all recovering well or coping with your illness.

Take care

Jill

    Hi Jill

I think we've all been wondering how you've been doing. Sorry to hear that the treatment is so awful. Doesn't sound a barrel of laughs at all. Hope someone who has been there and done that will reply to your blog, to give you some hope. I look forward to hearing from you again.

    Take care

    Hi Jill,

Its crap isnt it I went through the same just one week in hospital. It does improve but just keep using the peg which is a god send The fleem lasts

a good few weeks i am sorry to say and the taste of things does not improve much either as far as your energy levels well i would compare it to a totaly flat battery for a couple of months or so I know this all may sound grim but again it does with TIME get better i went through exactly the same and still go back for check ups on a monthly basis

but on the bright side I have been back to work now for seven weeks i wont tell you i feel 100% but after what we have been through what can you expect i do feel bettter getting some normality back in my life and you will to but it does,nt happen over night

        Hi Jill,

I really feel for you, it takes months for your mouth to start healing so it's all trail and error and a lot of patience, I'm afraid!

Remember that everyone reacts differently to treatment,it also depends on the amount of RT you have been given.

I have to agree with ewh37 that the taste does not improve much either!

Keep your chin up Jill, you will get there!

               Big Hugs,
