Morning everyone,
Well i have finnally been fitted with my PEG! To say im sore is an understatement! Dont really remember much about the actually op apart from gagging and trying to be sick towards the end when they pulled everything back out my throat, implements etc!!!!!
Stayed in hospital overnight wednesday was quite upset really come night time, was in so much pain and i think the enormity of it all hit me i started to cry and cry and cry, 3 operations in 6 weeks finally got to me!!!!! Anyway after a little chat to the nurse and a sleeping pill i went to sleep til 5.30 when they woke me up with their "good mornings", bless them!
Last night i got my 17 year old daughter to do the flushing out of the tube, nothing much to it really cos im not using mine yet its just in case i do when the treatment starts and i cant swallow, you take the top off , release the clamp and pour about 50 mls of fresh water down it! Easy enought but somehow we managed to overflow it or something and some gunge flew out the end! OMG quick clamp it and top back on LOL Amber wants to be a nurse so watch out everyone LOL Seriously tho we know where we went wrong but we did laugh and god can i tell you it really hurts to laugh, you dont realise how much you use your stomach muscles for everthing from sitting up to laughing!!! Anyway settled down for the night, wishing i had access to those sleeping pills, went off to sleep but this morning am in so much pain, i think its the bruising coming out now ! My wound area is so tender and hard, if anyone reading this has had experience if a PEG being fitted i would be grateful to know how long this goes on for???? I start treatment next Tuesday and want to feel better than this before that starts!!!!!
So its gonna be another day of in and out of bed i reckon, i ve got the tube coiled up at the mo and stuck to my belly with tape, dont care cos im in my pjs but its gonna be interesting when i get dressed, dont have many loose fitting clothes, god what have i done to deserve all this hassle and upset !!!!
Anyway i l keep you informed of my progess the next few days before the big day arrives for radio and chemo, and again any info on this PEG thing would be gratefully received!
