Head Mask

1 minute read time.
Hi there everyone, Well just had my second stage completed of the headshield making today, i must say it was a weird feeling, today was the making of the front part, had to lay down flat my head in the back piece already made then they start binding your face up with warm plaster of paris, leaving out your mouth and nose obviously for breathing, they re not that cruel LOL. It was a nice warm feeling and a bit like having your face massaged, had to lay with that on for a few minutes while it sets then the pulling off. Now that was a bit weird like pulling off a really thick face mask us ladies sometimes put on ourselves for a good old pamper !!!! It was painless and just another experience to add to my growing list since being diagnosed! Stage three is Monday when they put both together and clamp you in for the perfect fit !!!!! Anyway just to say if anyone is going to have to face this at some point there is nothing at all to worry about they talk you through each stage and are just so lovely with you, and i felt so relaxed. Treatment time is nearly upon me and am raring now to just get going, the sooner it comes the sooner it will go eh? Take care everyone and blog again soon! Jill x

Sounds like the making of the mask was quite therapeutic. You're sounding very up for it..........good for you.

I've been to the Cancer Centre this morning to consent for chemo. Each cycle will be Oxaliplatin by IV followed by 14 days of Capecitabine tablets then a weeks rest. I will probably have 8 cycles which will take about 6 months. Must admit the list of possible side effects doesn't sound like much fun. I'm hoping I'm one of the lucky ones who doesn't suffer too many side effects, especially the nausea and sickness.....I can only hope! My chemo starts 25th August so I'm going to try and do plenty of nice things before I start, just incase.

Try and put a picture of you and the mask on the site. You and Debs can compare styles and colours!

    love and hugs

Thanks for your email Angela, yeh im fine with the things going on as long as there is no pain lol  Today was painless to thats fine but i know it s not gonna be like that for long!!!  I start my radio and chemo on the 25th August too, snap!!!!  Im having 6 weeks or radical radiotherapy ten minutes every day which is 30 sessions, then once a week chemo which will take up about 6 hours of that day as i have to have a drip in after the chemo goes in to flush my system out, as this type of platinum chemo can effect your kidneys!!!! This chemo is running along side the radio.

Yeh i l get my daughter to take a photo of me on Monday at my last session and put it on the site, good idea!

    Have a good weekend

    Love Jill

    Hi Jenny

I hope i can keep it afterwards as a sort of souveneir or family heirloom to pass down the generations as a symbol of bravery and courage against fighting this disease, dont know whether my daughters would like that tho LOL.

    Hope ya well
