Jaw cancer

2 minute read time.

I noticed an aching in my jaw in spain in 2019 told dentist but he just cleaned my teeth done a filling never X-rayed, back to uk in 2020, seen private dentist as no nhs dentists told them about my ache in my jaw they cleaned my teeth to,d me to come back for another visit in six months no xray.

Late 2022 I noticed a ulcer pushing my back molar up by Feb 2023 I had pus and had pain coming from that area I spoke to doctor who just sent a text saying you need to contact your dentist, I rang 111 got a appointment 40 minutes away at a dentist and knew myself that I had cancer, got to dentist who just held my arm and said you poor lady, and I knew then straight away.

By March I was in York hospital starting the madness of examinations biopsy and scans it was confirmed it was a carcinoma, and I was informed of what the operation entailed.

My  14 hour operation was may 30 th 2023 where they took  my fibula from my right leg and reconstructed my jaw left side at the bottom, I had a big stage 4 tumour wrapped around my jaw, but I lived through that op and had two more after as had infection in metal plate holding the bone in place, which they removed.

Im now living elsewhere and now waiting for reconstructive dentistry to help me eat, I’ve had a peg in since a week before may 2023 and using it ok, I can’t eat bits in food but can eat puréed food etc. I lost 3 stone in weight and finding it hard to put any weight on although I have three fortisip 2 cal and the complete small fortisip, plus soups custards etc.

Im hoping to be referred ASAP to continue my ongoing two operations at my nearest hospital, will keep updated .

since we’ve moved life has been so much better we were being evicted up near York the woman who was evicting us from the land we had lived on for three years was a tenant herself but made so much money for the estate owner by renting his houses as air b and bs didn’t back us up so we left a month ago taking our 6 rescue dogs with us, we have now come to a much nicer place with caring owners and can I hope rest and relax, as all through my treatment this woman was nasty didn’t care about the fact I had cancer etc.

im living life to the best I can I won’t cmplain as I’m alive and the wonderful suurgeons st York hospital saved me, I have problems with saliva sudds talking and going out and drinking even a hot chocolate but I’m so happy to be here with my husband and our nw five furbabies, as we last one the day after moving, he had diabetes and was blind and the trip took its toll on him.

im 72 now and hope to still be here in another ten years if I’m lucky enough
