Melanoma awareness

Less than one minute read time.
Hi, my name is Therese I am new to this site and thought I would write a little of my history with melanoma. I was diagnosed in August 2006 with melanoma 0.5mm I remember at the time I think I went into total shock all sorts of thoughts ran through me at the time, one being my youngest daughter being 11 years. two years on I guess I have moved on I stay very aware of any changes, but get on with my life, although melanoma is never far away. I am interested in hearing from others with similar experiences and am glad to have found this site.

Another member of the 'Melanoma Club' here! I was recently diagnosed with a 1.4 mm and am awaiting further surgery.

I can well understand your shock when you were diagnosed and I suppose there will always be that thought in the back of your mind as to whether it has totally gone but you must live your life and be there for your family. My daughters are aged 24 and 18 but you never stop worrying about them do yo lol!?

There is a lovely lady called Marsha here who has been fighting melanoma for 10 years and is a veritable fount of knowledge and I'm sure if you go the the Melanoma Forum you will see her very helpful and supportive posts.

    Take care

    Hi Pheonix

Thank you for your kind words I am sorry to hear about your recent diagnosis and hope you have lots of love and support around you.

Yes you never stop worrying about your children as well as grandchildren.

worrying about melanoma recurrence can put a a shadow on things however, time has brought exceptance and  two years down the line its not as immediate as when first diagnosed so there is a light at the end of the tunnel.

I do hope your surgery goes well and that you have a speedy recovery

    Much Care

    Therese
