The district nurses came round today to set up the syringe driver,to be honest the whole thing freaked me out.I just imagined a large box with ALL the meds pumping into her system at once turning Mo,someone I love very much, into a zombie/vegetable,how wrong I was thank God!!.The syringe drivers aren't as obtrusive as I thought they look a rechargeable battery charger and can be hid under the pillows out of sight. They can also be carried in special pouches and aren't noisy at all the only problem is a light comes on when the meds are administered by an electronic pump. The drivers have to be recharged everyday but the nurses come in and charge them and check they are working, daily. The syringe drivers are also sealed units and can only be opened by medical professionals so I have nothing to do with them I just have to be aware they are there..not too difficult lol.
