So a week into radiotherapy and everything is going well, or should I say as expected.
The therapy itself is straight forward and I’m already getting into the swing of things. All I do is turn up at my allotted time, wait for my name to be called then go though into the radiotherapy suite, lay on the ‘bed’ and wait for my mask to be fitted. Jiggle about a bit to get it fitting snugly then lay back and wait to be zapped. The first bit is a quick CT scan to allow the radiographers to align me with the master scan, then once the adjustments are made, off we go. I get moved into the machine and then hear a load of clicking and whirring as the machine does its thing. I’ve got my eyes closed throughout and don’t feel a thing apart from some minor movement as I move through the machine. After about 10 mins I’m unclipped and am free to go.
Having had a week of treatment I’m starting to feel some minor effects. My taste is starting to change and things aren’t quite tasting how they used to. My energy levels are also a bit degraded, but I’m still up for the odd dog walk and building of a few flat pack wardrobes.
I had a sit down with my doctors today and they’re happy with progress and everything is as expected so let’s just crack on and get the rest of the treatment done.
Bring on ringing that bell on 8th March!!
