Back in the hospital (again!) - T's Day 105 A.S.

2 minute read time.

When you turn up at a specialist unit at the hospital and they don't even really look at you, just say," Hi Andrew, your bed's that one over there...." then you know you have probably been there a little too often! However, that's where my beloved A resides this evening. His coldy flu thing got worse and worse, despite anti-biotics and lots of rest last night saw us both sleepless as A was sick everywhere and had night sweats and shakes and a ridiculously high pulse and a fever .... I did say that I thought we should call the doctor at about four o clock in the morning but was refused. This morning we got an emergency appointment with the doctor who took one look at A's battleship grey pallor and they shovelled him off to the hospital.

In a little over an hour after our scheduled doctor's appointment A was on his bed in the hospital being subjected to tests and prods from the urology consultant, then it was on to IV drips and buckets of new anti-biotics to address new serious UTI. Funny to think now that I was so hospital phobic - the urology ward at our local hospital is now as common place as a trip to the hairdresser. I have a quick chat with all the nurses to see how there holidays went, A's surgeon wanders in and stops for a "Oh, dear, are you back again?!" chat and it's just like old times.

The timing is pretty poor this time though. A is meant to be walking his daughter down the aisle on Saturday at 12 noon ........ if you could see the state he was in you would understand the miraculous recovery that needs to happen betwixt now and then. Although when I went to see him this evening I was surprised to see that he had returned to a freshly scrubbed pink tone rather than the ashen sunken panda eyed boy of the last few days, so that;s all good I think. The doctors have said that if he is a very good boy (see, they don;t know him that well!) then he may be allowed out for Ward Leave on Saturday and they will give him permission to be off ward in the day as long as he is back tucked up in his hospital bed by evening - so he may yet make it for a short walk up the aisle in Dorset, as long as he gets home before his stagecoach turns into a pumpkin. :-)

He is, I know, in the right place and I am just looking forward to his sarcasm and wit returning. When he starts teasing me i know he feels better. I could tell he has been proper poorly the last couple of days - he even asked me if he could put his head in my lap and then just lay there - i hat it when I can do nothing to help.

Cross your fingers all you lovely people in Macmillanland, that A gets to go to the ball on Saturday, albeit for a very short time and with no hope of any dancing ... just a gentle stroll and not too much excitement.

Take care

Oh T I'm so sorry to hear that Andrew has had to be admitted to hospital again. I hope the antibiotics kick in soon so that he can walk his daughter up the aisle on Saturday. Hopefully the fact that he has regained his colour is a good sign that they're working. I'll keep everything crossed for his day release. Please give him my best wishes for a speedy recovery. Make sure you get plenty of rest!

    Hi T,

I wish you both well for Sat,A will have the strength and love to be walking his daughter down the aisle,

I know I have been there,My daughter Cara thought that I was home in Bed, and if you could have seen her face when my pal wheeled me into the registery

Office, Just as she was about to say I do. Someone  gave her the nod and we both ended up in each others arms the tears where flying everywhere. But there was no way I was going to miss my Little girls big Day.

So I Hope A is fit for Saturday its a day he will never forget, and of of course T you and the Family have a Lovely Day.

    Good Luck. Sarsfield.xx

    Hi T

Sorry to hear that Andrew has yet another infection. I hope with all my heart that he "makes it to the church on time" even if it is only until he turns into a pumpkin.

Like you I find it really hard when there is nothing you can do to make them feel better. However, after 14 months Bert now listens to me and gets the Dr when I think he needs to so there is hope for Andrew yet. Sending (((((((((Hugs)))))))))) to you both from both of us. Enjoy your day on Saturday  if you can

    Love Teri & Bert

Oh I am crossing everything possible without damaging myself in the hope that Andrew not only makes a full and speedy recovery but that he gets to walk his daughter down the aisle.  Such a special moment.

Big hugs to you T, can't be easy.
