telgirls dance with cance - 7

3 minute read time.

Hi everyone hope we are all having a good weekend, I haven't blogged for a few days it seems to have been really busy lately which is great (no time to think).

Thursday was the day for final preparations for the Pink Friday day at work, so off to the shops to get the final few bits to complete the whole look, this meant a trip to the nail bar to have my nails painted in the same colour as my new pink extensions (lol) I was wearing a t-shirt that my mum in law had made for me and this had the breast cancer ribbon embroidered on it and asked the girl if she would incorporate this onto my nails and low and behold fingernails matching hair and the breast cancer ribbon on each little finger with a glitter gem in the middle (looks fantastic). After that  a trip to Claires Accessories, then bought dinner and a hot saok in the bath then went to bed contented and tired.

Up early the next day but as my hair is now short it takes no time at all to do (result), daughter applied my liquid pink glitter eyeliner, on with my Betty Boop pink glitter shirt and leggings and I was ready. I had to go to the hospital first to have my arm drained (hadn't considered that before dressing pink) and received quite a few looks for a LOT of people but the breast unit were very impressed with the whole look. Claire (my hero) the mac nurse then made my day by telling me that I didn't need to be drained so it was just a quick check over and I was off again.

Arrived at work and the whole place had been pinked, all the cars in the car park were proudly displaying balloons and pink ribbons and the whole outside of the building hadd been bedecked too. Entering into the office OMG there were ribbons and balloons as far as the eye could see, pink sweeties, pink cakes, pink drinks. Two of my area managers were standig with grins on their faces and wearing pink t-shirts with "doing it for Terri" on the front, they then said to look at the back and on there was a photo of me (this particular photo was one taken when we had our first aid training and the owner of said photo had been given explicit instructions to never let it see the light of day), it was taken during our attempt at bandaging someone with a head injury so you can just imagine the outcome, I was in hysterics and threatening said owner of photo when she used the excuse that she could not say no to the area manager so had to let her off what with the chain of command and everything. Many photos wre taken throughout the day which I will post once they have been downloaded and we had a fair few of the senior management team turing up, then in the afternoon we had a visit from two of our directors who were very generous in their donations into our collection pots and were really impressed with all the effort that had been put into the whole day.

I received phone calls all day on and off from our other 11 branches telling me how well the whole thing was going and what they were actually doing, some had really taken it to heart and there were young men having their legs shaved, having their heads shaved with the breast cancer logo engraved into their heads etc. I was overwhemled by the effort made across the whole of the company and am so poud to be part of this family, they really did make me feel that they are all right behind me 150%. I managed to stay until 5 then the drive home still with my mobile ringing with updates (its ok I have handsfree) and got home about 6.30 happy but shattered. So takeaway and an early night was had and fell asleep feeling on top of the world.

Isn't it strange that we seem to feel cynical a lot of the time and then something comes along and restores our faith in humanity. A BIG thank you to all the wonderful people that I have the privledge to work along side and can call my friends as well as work colleauges, you have all done me proud.

take care everyone love Terri xxx
