The phone call we had all been waiting for finally came today.
My sister answered the call from the consultant who sid the results are back and we need to make an appointment for friday to see him. As none of us could wait until then my sister asked him a few questions,
Can you offer any treatment
What cancer is the primary one
How long does he think mum has left with treatment.
The answers were
yes chemotherapy to try to reduce it not cure it.
the tumours in mums lungs are the primary with metastatic tumours in the liver and lymph glands
if mum responds to and can take the treatment 9 to 12 months
Its really weird mum seemed happy they are going to try to help her and said well thats longer than I thought. (my nan died two weeks after diagnosis of metastatic cancer of the liver and throat) The really odd thing was even though everywhere i'd read about this cancer said 3 to 4 months so I should be pleased we had longer yet the actual confirmation of a timeline really made it hit home today that my mum probably wont see certain things coming up in life like my hubby and I having children (if we are lucky enough).etc.
We made the appointment with this consultant for friday at 12.30
Whatever cancer throws your way, we’re right there with you.
We’re here to provide physical, financial and emotional support.
