Today we were told mums to poorly for the liver biopsy so the consultant would like to try a bronchoscopy to get a sample of the cancer.
Mum doesnt seem to concerned about this procedure as she had to have her oesophagus stretched many years ago and she assumed it was a similar procedure. I think now it was a good job she didnt know what it really involved as im not sure she would have had it done.
We are told it will be later in the week. which really miffed my mum as she was hoping to go home last friday but they persuaded her to stay by saying she wasnt well enough yet and maybe she'd be discharged yesterday which was Tuesday so the news she would be in longer still did not go down well at all. The great news today was mum has had her oxygen reduced ready to take her off it. The steroid mega dose has sored out her breathing at last and mums face is not a deep red colour anymore. They tell Mum hopefully she'll b able to go home on Friday.
In all honesty that was a mix of emotions, It was great mum was well enough to come home but also scary that its down to my sister and I to care for her full time day and night without the comfort of knowing if anything goes wrong we have the skills and equipment to cope with it.
Whatever cancer throws your way, we’re right there with you.
