Cellulitis

1 minute read time.

Hi all
Just a general enquiry, has anyone ever suffered from cellulitis?
What i thought was just a spot coming up on my nose early last week has turned out to be cellulitis.
By last Friday my nose was so painful & swollen that all Saturday i was beside myself in pain.
Early Sunday i called the out of hours doctor service & a nurse called me straight back telling me to go straight to hospital, i saw the nurse within an hour & was diagnosed with cellulitis.
Unfortunately she only gave me normal 250mg dose clarithromycin twice a day, but told me to go straight back to my GP within 24 hours if it got worse.
I managed to get an emergency appointment on Monday evening with my GP who said it was the worst case he'd seen in 20 years.
Telling me to double the dose to 500mg instantly & see him again on Wednesday.
I saw him again Wednesday & it looks like its subsiding a little but i was to take another 10 days at 500mg along with the painkillers (Co-Codomal) as i needed them.
Huge amounts of poison has been coming out of my nose & its relieved the swelling a bit since Tuesday, but ive felt so ill with this.
I didnt realise who bad this was until my GP told me people regularly died from cellulitis not that long ago & still do if the infection is in the head :(
I now have a spare presciption of Clarithromycin as he said it often returns, especially with me having a lowered immune system (Crohn's & CLL) & i take immunosuppressants.
All i wanted to say to anyone is if you get a sore spot coming up (usually on your legs but i'm different) to keep an eye on the infection spreading.
I'm hoping my nose is going to look normal within a few weeks.

My son was hospitalized for ages with it,nearly lost his leg, still not cleared up after masses of intraveanous anti biotics and anti bios at home, wears elastic bandage to stop DVT.

Thats all I know,at least his leg no longer feels as solid as wood
