Well we finally moved home on 13th April then went away on the canalboating holiday two days later!!
Unfortunately on the Wednesday of week 3 of the holiday Chris stepped off the boat onto flat ground & heard a loud cracking sound.
Thinking she had broken her ankle (I thought her back had gone again) she was in agony. Luckily we were not far from our home mooring, we returned to base & decided to motor home, the 4 hour trip seemed like forever.
We rang NHS direct & they said to get to Boston A&E an hour away, went straight there & was in the hospital from 8pm till returning home at 2am.
Saw numerous Consultants/Bone specialists etc.. suggesting an operation as they diagnosed a ruptured Achilles tendon:(
Chris didn't want an op so we had a temporary cast ready to return 10am next morning to see the Consultant again.
Having travelled back from Cheshire to home & then all those hours in A&E i was near to exhaustion but couldn't sleep as Chris was wide awake all night.
We returned the next morning to see the Consultant who confirmed a nasty rupture of the tendon & again suggested an operation, again we said we'd op for the plastercast.
He requested a full leg plaster for 3 weeks with knee bent & foot angled down, Chris opted for a stripey red/blue cast as it was Election day!!
Friday we return to see the Consultant & hopefully Chris will have the cast reduced to a knee to toe cast only for another month or so.
With all the above happening, a house full of unpacked boxes, me doing all the cooking, washing etc... i've been rather busy.
I've felt totally washed out myself, not sleeping more than about 11pm till 4-5am then feeling knackered all day from exhaustion.
Here's hoping Chris is more mobile soon as it's doing her head in as she is so active normally, luckily our neighbour lent her a buggy (think i need one too!)
Hope everyones keepig s well as posible & sorry for not keeping up with all the Blogs/Forum updates.
Dave
