A Big Hello

Less than one minute read time.
Hi my name is Sharon, I found out i had CML just over 5 weeks ago I had been to spec savers to have my eyes tested to cut a long story short I was sent to the hospital to see the eye consultant. I was sent for a blood test and to my horror I was told the same day that I had got CMLl I was sent to hospital the same day with a WBC of 600 I am now on gleevec 400mg and feeling loads better. I am keeping my fingers crossed that the gleevec is going to work for me, it's so good to know that there are people in the same boat as myself and I wish you all well. From, Sharron Taylor

  • Hi Sharron,

Welcome to the site! I don't have the same type of cancer but I'm sure you'll soon be in touch with others who have the same. What we all share is the worry and fear of the unknown. It is especially scary when you don't know you're ill and you're suddenly told you have cancer. I know it seems a bit of a two-edged sword to be suddenly told by the optician that you needed further investigation but it means that it could be treated. I was feeling fine when mine was picked up in a routine mammogram -talk about a shock - I was reeling!

The best of luck with your treatment.

  • Hi Sharron,

Finding your way around this site takes a bit of getting used to! If you want to find out about another member simply click on their picture and you will be taken to their Profile Page. Some people give more information about themselves, their illness and treatment than others but I believe the more information people offer then the better able other members can offer help and advice. I've been married for 40 years and have two (very) grown up daughters! They were all wonderful during my treatment. I can't honestly say I'm 100% with lots of problems caused by my treatment but I'm alive... walking and talking and I'm grateful.

    Best wishes,

    KateG
